Squidoo - A Social Site with a Difference.

Have you heard about Squidoo lenses? If not maybe you have seen them and wondered what they were. Now the name “Squidoo” itself sounds like some sort of sea creature and you guessed it. It has graphic on each lens of weird kinder cute looking squid like creature with one large eye that seems to follow you around the lens as you read it.

Believe it or not but producing Squidoo lens is very addictive for some people. They have developed a real social network of like minded people who are more than willing to advise you on how to make your rather otherwise poor effort of a lens into real money making masterpiece. Just return the favour by telling them how much you like their lenses and don’t forget to give them a rating.

How then can one use a Squidoo lens to help market their product? It’s all about traffic. That is getting lots of people to see your now great masterpiece of a lens and some people will like what they see and want to see more of your product so add a link back to your website for them to get more information.

People also love videos so make a couple of them and add them to You Tube so that you can incorporate them in your Squidoo lens bearing in mind the funnier they are the better they work. Use RSS feeds for content that changes so that your lens is dynamic and you keep people coming back. Remembering that one of the criteria for a high-ranking lens is traffic. Keep changing and rotating content as this also helps increase your lens rank. Note If you are lucky enough to get in the Top 1000 or better still Top 100 then your lens will start to create it’s own traffic.
